Mile 702 – 14 Pacific Crest Trail miles, 4.4 wandering milesI was super excited waking up this morning! It was time to leave Kennedy Meadows and start heading to Canada again!!! I will definitely be slower and will not be able to do 25 mile days but at least I can keep going!
I wish I could say it was a fun and easy 18 miles today… Truth be told I had a few good hours and was pushing through pain the rest of the day. I kept telling my self, It’s just really bad tendonitis, over and over again in my head… My mantra, It’s just bad tendonitis.
We camped right next to South Fork Kern River and watched 50+ birds fly up and down the river feeding on the evening bugs. The tent was set up minus the rain fly which is pretty typical for us. Usually it works out great! This time we woke up at 3am with frost on the inside and on top of our bags… It was basically snowing in our tent! We now can create weather inside our tent!
As I tried to fall back to sleep I could not shake the reality. I already knew this was not going to work. I am in too much pain… When we reached this campsite I could barely keep going as it was. Every step was potentially excruciating to my foot. How is this possibly going to work? I keep hoping I am just having a bad dream and tomorrow I will wake up feeling great with no pain what so ever! One can hope right?
