All possible after entering Mexico without your US passport. I have to say I was hesitant to make the trip yet determined to take care of a few things before I start the Pacific Crest Trail. Some of you know my passport was stolen along with many other valuable things a few weeks ago. And while this is all in the process of being replaced I still needed to make this trip to Mexico.
I decided to use the most trusted source for all information… The internet! Whoa! I found out I could be held for 48 hours, fined $500 to $2,000, and possibly have a cavity search! Don’t get me wrong I am all about fun and adventure but one must draw a line somewhere and a cavity search is definitely crossing the fun and adventurous line for me! Will US Customs let me back into the United States with no passport? And if they do what will I have to go through?
I had decided not to go but then while talking to a friend I found out by chance his father was a customs agent. Five minutes later I was talking to Topzee and was assured that I should be ok… It is still a risk and any issues would arise from the mood of the border agent I happen to get..
Whats a guy to do? What would you do? I decided to just go for it and see what happens! Wish me luck!
