Mile 716 – 8 Pacific Crest Trail Miles, 100 awful feet to the tent 🙁It was a slow and painful morning… Averaging two miles per hour which is pretty slow for us but reasonable at the same time. Butterfly was stopping every tenth of a mile or so to let me catch up… I felt like I was just keeping her from getting her miles in…
At around seven miles I started to feel a lot more pain… About a half mile later I let Butterfly know that I needed to stop. And right about then I felt this awful bone rolling over my toe knuckles sensation in the top of my foot and I was done. There was absolutely no way I was moving from that spot for some time.
Butterfly was awesome helping me to a rock to sit down and looked around for a suitable campsite. She set up everything and then helped me inside the tent. I felt so hopeless…
I could no longer put any weight on my right foot. I thought possibly after an hour or two I would be able to continue but clearly this is much worse than a few hours of recovery… I am 20.29 miles and 3,000 feet both up and down from my nearest trail exit. I am barely able to contain the pain as I don’t want Butterfly to worry…
Hopefully in the morning I will be able to put some weight on my foot and make process towards an exit. At this point I am trying to stay positive… Maybe I just need a few weeks off from trail to heal and continue on my journey.
I’m not sure what the lesson is here… I’m pretty sure I am over it!
