Store, Showers, and a Pool… Real or Mirage?

May 24, 2014 by Alan Underkofler

Mile 427 – 17 Pacific Crest Trail miles, 1 wandering mile

20140524-111336-40416095.jpgLuckily our campsite from last night was not all that comfortable or I may not have moved for hours. My body was definitely feeling the 27 miles from the day before.

20140524-111336-40416797.jpgWe had 17 miles to Action KOA. Apparently a store, showers, and a pool were waiting for us to arrive. We were dropping down to the heat of the desert and at times Action KOA seemed to be a mirage made up in my head. The day dragged until finally we turned the corner and could see the KOA in the valley.

20140524-111335-40415676.jpgAs we walked in the smell of grilled food hit us and we were eating within 10 minutes! An hour later we were relaxing in the shade with a cold beer and ice cream. The perfect ending to a hot 17 miles.
